With the debut of a new show in the dome and exhibits, displays, and telescopes in the hallways and outside, come celebrate Astronomy Day with the Columbia Public Schools Planetarium on Saturday, April 14. Doors and exhibits open from 11:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
In the dome, visitors will have the chance to see two different shows.
At 1:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m. is To Worlds Beyond, a show new to CPS Planetarium. From the fiery surface of the sun to the icy realm of comets, this show takes visitors to the exotic worlds of our solar system. From enormous volcanoes, dazzling rings, and storms that would swallow the Earth...the adventure awaits!
At 12:00 noon and 2:00 p.m., visitors with small children are introduced to the Wonders of the Night Sky. This show, designed specifically for preschool-kindergarten aged children, is geared toward the inquisitiveness and attention spans of young kids.
This event is free, but donations of $2.00 per person are welcome. To reserve a seat for a planetarium show, visit http://cpsplanetarium.org.
