Engaging in community service provides students with the opportunity to become active members of their community
and has a lasting, positive impact on society at large.
Project # 1: Recycling - Our students pick up the paper and cardboard blue bins from each teacher classroom weekly. This helps our community AND keeps our building clean!
Project #2: Upstairs Commons Clean Up - Our GMS Upstairs Commons is used by various teachers, clubs, and events. The AVID students keep it picked up and organized so everyone can enjoy the area.
Project #3: Adopt A Spot, Litter Control - We are helping make Columbia cleaner by picking up trash along Bethel Road between Southampton and Forum. We do this two times a month during our AVID class time. Watch for us along Bethel Road - we are the ones in the Orange Vests! (click link for pictures!)
